Celebrating Six Years of Auric’s Growth
Aurangabad Industrial City (Auric), located in Shendra-Bidkin near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, has emerged as a significant player in India’s industrial landscape. Marking six years since its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 7, 2019, Auric has positioned itself as a premier smart industrial city within the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC).
As one of the first smart industrial cities in India, Auric has not only attracted global investments but also promoted sustainable development. Currently, a total of 323 industrial plots have been allotted along with 117 acres of mixed-use land, representing a total investment potential of more than Rs71,343 crore. This investment is anticipated to create over 62,405 direct and indirect jobs.
Rajat Kumar Saini, CEO and MD of the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC), emphasized Auric’s role in reshaping how industrial townships function, particularly benefiting small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). Currently, 78 units operate from Auric, while 62 factories are under construction and an additional 184 units are preparing to commence development.
The allotment of plots reveals significant investor confidence; 135 MSMEs, 17 large-scale projects, and 16 non-MSMEs have been allocated land in the Shendra Industrial Area. In Bidkin, plots have been distributed to 49 MSMEs, 27 large-scale projects, and four non-MSMEs, attracting top-tier companies in sectors such as automobiles, electric vehicles (EVs), polymers, and engineering.
Auric’s infrastructure is designed to meet world-class standards, offering essential services such as a constant power supply, advanced sewage treatment, and comprehensive tech-based solutions for governance and planning. The city supports various sectors, including automobiles, electronics, pharmaceuticals, textiles, food processing, IT, and chemicals.
Multi-modal connectivity enhances Auric’s strategic location, with access to the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi expressway, the future Sambhajinagar-Pune Greenfield Expressway, and proximity to major transportation hubs.
As Auric continues to thrive, it plays a crucial role in Maharashtra’s ambition of reaching a $1 trillion economy by 2030, while contributing to the national vision of “Viksit Bharat” by 2047. Authorities assert that Auric is generating a vibrant ecosystem for innovation, manufacturing, and exports, thereby fostering significant economic opportunities for the Marathwada region.
