Sunraycer Partners with Canadian Solar for Future Projects

Key Takeaways

  • Canadian Solar enters agreements with Sunraycer Renewables for solar and battery storage projects in Texas.
  • e-STORAGE subsidiary will deliver 188 MWh and 127 MWh of energy storage to two Texas projects by Q3 2025.
  • Sunraycer plans to deploy up to 2 GWp of high-efficiency solar modules from Canadian Solar across various projects.

Agreements for Renewable Energy Projects

Canadian Solar Inc. has announced partnerships with Sunraycer Renewables LLC, a renewable energy company based in Annapolis, Maryland. The arrangements involve battery energy storage as well as two solar projects in Texas. Moreover, the agreements encompass the procurement of up to 2 gigawatts-peak (GWp) of solar modules for a range of Sunraycer projects.

Canadian Solar’s subsidiary, e-STORAGE, will provide battery storage for the Gaia project in Navarro County and the Midpoint project in Hill County, contributing 188 megawatt-hours (MWh) and 127 MWh, respectively. These projects are set for commissioning in the third quarter of 2025.

The energy storage projects will utilize over 60 units of SolBank 3.0 battery containers, which are part of e-STORAGE’s advanced energy storage solutions. SolBank 3.0 features high-density lithium-iron-phosphate cells, coupled with cutting-edge battery management systems and innovative liquid cooling thermal management. This design addresses the reliability and safety needs for extensive energy projects in Texas’s challenging climate.

In tandem with the storage projects, Sunraycer’s future initiatives will employ nearly 2 GWp of Canadian Solar’s latest high-efficiency solar modules. These modules are advanced, capable of achieving power outputs up to 725 Wp, exhibiting 85% bifaciality and 23.3% efficiency while ensuring minimal power degradation and high energy yield. Such innovations effectively decrease the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) as well as the overall system costs, making them a valuable addition to renewable energy initiatives.
