Milestone Connected – Vodafone’s 200 Millionth IoT Device

Vodafone has recently reached an important milestone by connecting its 200 millionth Internet of Things (IoT) device. This significant achievement is marked by the connection of a healthcare monitor that allows for remote monitoring of patients’ cardiac health and vital signs through Vodafone’s globally-managed IoT network.

Over the past five years, Vodafone’s IoT connections have more than doubled, with a substantial part of the growth occurring in Germany, which accounts for over a quarter of the total connections. This indicates a robust adoption of IoT technologies across Europe, driven by organizations investing in digital solutions to increase productivity, strengthen supply chains, and gather valuable data for analysis.

Vodafone’s IoT applications are diverse and impactful. For example, in South Africa, IoT devices are deployed to monitor coal movements, quality, and quantity from 200 mines. Similarly, across Europe, the technology helps monitor water leaks, conserve resources, and detect forest fires, allowing for swift responses to potential threats.

Beyond enhancing operational efficiency, Vodafone is committed to sustainability through its IoT solutions. The company estimates that more than 50% of its IoT connections enable clients to reduce emissions.
