Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) announced its integration of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) framework into its sustainability strategy. This initiative underscores AGEL’s commitment to developing renewable energy in a nature-positive manner. The TNFD framework is a collaborative initiative led by notable organizations, including the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative and the World Wildlife Fund, designed to help organizations manage nature-related risks and seize opportunities.

By aligning with the TNFD guidelines, AGEL positions itself as a leader among renewable energy companies in addressing biodiversity in their strategic decisions. Commencing in FY24, AGEL will conduct comprehensive assessments across all operational sites to evaluate nature-related dependencies, risks, and opportunities. By mainstreaming the principles of TNFD, we are not only reinforcing our commitment to renewable energy but also identifying ways to enhance ecosystems around our infrastructure.”

In line with its long-term biodiversity strategy, AGEL is a signatory of the India Business Biodiversity Initiative (IBBI and IBBI 2.0), aiming for No Net Loss of Biodiversity by 2030. This initiative is supported by an extensive plan to plant 27.86 million trees at various project locations.

AGEL stands out as one of the leading renewable energy firms globally, specializing in utility-scale solar, wind, hybrid, and energy storage solutions. Currently, it boasts the largest operating renewable energy portfolio in India, exceeding 16.5 GW across 12 states. With a vision aligned with India’s decarbonization goals, AGEL has set an ambitious target of achieving 50 GW by 2030.

Additionally, AGEL is in the process of developing the world’s largest renewable energy plant, a 30 GW facility located on barren land in Khavda, Gujarat. The project will cover an area of 538 square kilometers, which is five times the size of Paris.
