A three-day agricultural technology fair kicked off on Tuesday in Daulatpur upazila, Kushtia district, to promote sustainable and modern farming practices among local farmers. The fair was inaugurated by Alamgir Biswas, the Additional Director for the DAE’s Jashore Region, with Dr. Md Shawkat Hossain Bhuiyan, Deputy Director of Kushtia DAE, presiding over the ceremony. Daulatpur Upazila Agriculture Officer Rehana Parvin welcomed attendees, while Upazila Fisheries Officer Md Hossain Ahmed Swapan conducted the event.

A vibrant procession marked the fair’s opening, parading through the main roads before returning to the agriculture office premises. After the ceremony, guests visited various stalls set up by exhibitors.

During a discussion meeting, speakers emphasized the significance of adopting sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural technologies to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. They noted that the fair would equip farmers with practical knowledge regarding modern cultivation methods, improved crop varieties, and advanced agricultural machinery.

As the chief guest, Alamgir Biswas highlighted the considerable expansion of commercial agriculture across the seven districts of the Jashore region. He noted that farmers are increasingly practicing multiple crop cultivation on the same land. In addition to Biswas, other notable attendees included DAE Jashore region Project Director Rabiul Islam, Additional Deputy Directors Md Mohsin Ali and Md Wahiduzzaman, Assistant Commissioner (AC-Land) Pradip Kumar Dash, and journalist Md Saiful Islam, all present as special guests.
