Project Details and Impact

AdEnergy Solutions Ltd (AESL) announced on Friday the acquisition of a major power transmission project in Mundra, Gujarat. This initiative, titled “Transmission System for Green Hydrogen/Ammonia Manufacturing Potential in Mundra, Gujarat,” is designed to enhance the region’s capacity for producing green hydrogen and ammonia, critical to India’s sustainable energy goals. The project is set to cost Rs 2,800 crore and is expected to be completed within 36 months.

The project entails upgrades to the existing Navinal (Mundra) electrical substation. Specifically, AESL will install two large 765/400kV transformers, which are essential for increasing the substation’s capacity. In tandem with this upgrade, the company will construct a new 75 km long double-circuit power line, designed to connect the Navinal substation to the Bhuj substation. The network enhancement will add 150 circuit kilometers of transmission lines, increasing AESL’s total transmission infrastructure to 25,928 circuit kilometers and boosting its transformation capacity to 87,186 MVA.

Winning this project under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process, AESL was facilitated by PFC Consulting Limited, which coordinated the bidding process. The Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the project was officially transferred to AESL on March 20, 2025.

This project marks a significant achievement for AESL as it is the sixth order won in the current fiscal year. The company’s order book now totals an impressive Rs 57,561 crore, reflecting its growth trajectory and the expanding demand for renewable energy solutions in India.

As a prominent player within the Adani Group, AESL holds a notable position in the energy sector, operating as the nation’s largest private transmission company. The company not only deals with power transmission but also engages in distribution, smart metering, and cooling solutions. AESL currently serves approximately 13 million customers in metropolitan Mumbai and the industrial zone of Mundra SEZ.

In addition to traditional energy solutions, AESL is actively investing in its smart metering business, positioning itself to become India’s leading smart metering integrator. The firm aims to revolutionize energy delivery to consumers through its comprehensive range of services. AESL is expanding its distribution network while offering competitive retail solutions that include a significant portion of green energy, catering to the evolving needs of the market.

Through this project and its broader strategic initiatives, AESL demonstrates its commitment to advancing India’s clean energy capabilities and enhancing infrastructure critical for sustainable development, while also positioning itself as a key player in the nation’s energy transformation.
