TCS’s Strategic Expansion in Automotive Software

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is enhancing its foothold in the Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) sector by establishing two Automotive Delivery Centers in Germany, located in Munich and Villingen-Schwenningen, along with an engineering center in Romania. This strategic expansion aims to assist TCS’ global automotive clients in transitioning to next-generation mobility solutions.

The new delivery centers will facilitate automakers in the development and deployment of TCS’ software-centric services, particularly in autonomous driving, infotainment, safety systems, and connected vehicle technologies. The Romanian engineering hub is designated to focus on designing and constructing advanced automotive software platforms, aiding early-stage development and innovation.

This move is part of TCS’s long-term strategy to solidify its end-to-end automotive software capabilities and chip-to-cloud technologies. The centers will foster precise collaborations with leading European automotive manufacturers, offering nearshore capabilities. Over 100 skilled professionals will be involved, collaborating with a larger team of over 2,000 SDV engineers across TCS’s global offices. This diverse talent pool aims to create next-generation automotive platforms encompassing digital cockpits and advanced driver assistance systems, supporting the entire product lifecycle from concept through to post-launch support.

Regu Ayyaswamy, TCS’s Senior Vice President & Global Head of IoT and Digital Engineering, emphasized that the new centers will position TCS at the forefront of automotive innovation, enabling the delivery of advanced solutions for autonomous driving and digital cockpit systems.

Aligned with the global automotive industry’s increasing focus on connected and autonomous mobility, TCS is poised to lead this transformation. Europe is crucial for TCS due to its strong automotive ecosystem and its history of serving automotive clients in the region for over 25 years. TCS offers innovative solutions in digital cockpit design, electrification, and connected car ecosystems, enhanced by digital engineering, IoT, cloud computing, and data analytics.

Anupam Singhal, President and Business Group Head of Manufacturing at TCS, remarked that the shift towards software-defined vehicles is pivotal for the automotive landscape. He noted that the establishment of these centers exemplifies TCS’s commitment to assisting manufacturers in creating intelligent and sustainable vehicles.

TCS’s presence in Europe enhances its role within the global automotive value chain, leveraging local talent for improved collaboration and customer satisfaction. Having been active in the region for over 45 years with over 15,000 employees, TCS has consistently partnered with leading multinational companies across various industries, continuing to drive growth and transformation.
