The three-day agricultural technology fair kicked off today in the Sunamganj sadar upazila, organized by the Upazila Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE). The event aims to promote modern farming techniques and sustainable agricultural practices among local farmers.

Dr. Mohammad Ileas Mia, the Deputy Commissioner of Sunamganj, served as the chief guest at the event. He was joined by Bimal Chandra Som, Deputy Director of DAE in Sunamganj, who addressed the audience as a special guest. The Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Atish Darshi Chakma, presided over the proceedings.

During the opening ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner, along with other dignitaries, toured the various stalls, which showcased a variety of innovative agricultural practices. A total of 14 stalls were set up, highlighting different aspects of modern agriculture.

Among the featured displays were stalls dedicated to crop diversification, vegetable cultivation on Sorjan beds, and raised bed farming—an effective method for managing low-lying agricultural areas. In addition, the fair included demonstrations of vegetable farming on floating beds, sustainable practices like ginger and vegetable cultivation in sacks, mixed fruit cultivation, safe food practices, soil health protection, and advanced crop production management systems.
