TotalEnergies ENEOS Expands Solar Alliance with Ceres in Indonesia

Key Takeaways

  • TotalEnergies ENEOS completed Phase 2 of a rooftop solar project for PT. Perusahaan Industri Ceres, adding 1.4 MWp capacity.
  • The project generates over 1,380 MWh of renewable energy annually, meeting 12% of Ceres’ power needs.

Sustainable Energy Partnership in Indonesia

TotalEnergies ENEOS has successfully completed Phase 2 of a rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) project for PT. Perusahaan Industri Ceres in Bandung, Indonesia. This follows the initial Phase 1 project, which delivered 2.2 megawatt-peak (MWp) capacity in September 2024.

The latest phase introduces around 2,400 solar panels, boosting on-site solar capacity to 3.6 MWp, which is expected to generate over 1,380 megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable electricity each year. Collectively, the system will produce approximately 4,630 MWh of clean energy annually, covering 12% of Ceres’ energy requirements.

This project operates under a 15-year agreement whereby TotalEnergies ENEOS develops and manages the solar installations. Ceres pays solely for the renewable electricity produced, eliminating upfront costs and significantly reducing carbon emissions. By transitioning to renewable energy, Ceres aims to lessen its reliance on conventional electricity sources while promoting eco-friendly manufacturing practices.

Alexandru Buzatu, Director of TotalEnergies ENEOS Renewables Distributed Generation Asia Pacific, emphasized the partnership’s strategic benefits, stating that the collaboration extends beyond mere cost savings. Nancy Florencia, President Director of Ceres, expressed excitement about advancing toward a sustainable future through this collaboration, highlighting the project’s alignment with Indonesia’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060.

The joint venture between TotalEnergies and ENEOS aims to develop decentralized solar capacity across Asia, with plans to expand to 2 GW in the next five years. As a significant player in the global energy sector, TotalEnergies focuses on creating a diverse and competitive portfolio combining renewables and flexible energy solutions, with ambitious targets for renewable energy production by 2030.

With both companies committed to sustainability and reducing their environmental footprint, this partnership represents a crucial step toward cleaner energy solutions in Indonesia’s chocolate manufacturing industry. The initiative not only highlights Ceres’ dedication to sustainable practices but also reinforces TotalEnergies ENEOS’s mission to spearhead renewable energy projects across Asia.
